John Fraser stöbert auf Floh- und Antiquitätenmärkten nach seinem „Material“, durchforstet Antiquariate und lugt bei Hausauflösungen „um die Ecke“. Er braucht alte Bücher, oder besser gesagt Bucheinbände und Vorsatzpapiere, sucht nach den Spuren einer vergangenen Zeit. Ob fleckig oder vergilbt und auch wenn Farbelemente nur noch Betrachter die Bereitschaft sich einzulassen und mit ihm auf die Suche zu gehen nach dem Verlorenen, Vergessenen und doch Verbleibenden. Die zarten Collagen, die Fraser mit seinen Schätzen feinfühlig neu komponiert zählen zu den subtilsten Arbeiten dieser Art und bestehen selbst im goldenen Zeitalter der farbigen amerikanischen Kunstwelt seit nun mehr als 20 Jahren.
