Lars Strandh wurde 1961 in Göteborg, Schweden, geboren. Er lebt und arbeitet in Oslo, Norwegen seit 1984.

Die primär monochrom wirkenden Bilder des Schweden Lars Strandh reihen sich ein in die Tradition jener monochrom arbeitender Künstler, die immer wieder die Thematik von Farbe und deren Präsenz/Erscheinung hinterfragen. Bei ihm ist es der Duktus des Pinselstrichs, der präzise immer horizontal über die aufgespannte Leinwand gezogen wird, der die oft fast Ton-in-Ton gearbeiteten Linien vor den Augen des Betrachters zum Oszillieren bringt. Einfach wirken sie, diese Bilder, obwohl sie doch mit so großer Präzision gearbeitet sind. Monochrom erscheinen sie von Ferne, und dennoch setzen sie sich aus vielen fein gezogenen Pinselstrichen zusammen. Sie sind ruhig und laden zur Kontemplation ein.
