Jus Juchtmans was born in 1952 in Mortsel, Belgium. He lives and works in Antwerp.

With his oscillating creations, which are made of numerous layers of color, the artist belongs to one of the most well known artistic positions in Europe in the field of monochrome painting. The work of Jus Juchtmans, however, can only be termed pure monochrome in the widest sense. In contrast to other colleagues of this genre the many different layers of color are visible or at least vaguely discernable, and the extremely glossy surface intentionally creates mirror images that form a picture within a picture.
